The Philippines responded in the third set, taking advantage of several Vietnamese errors to win 25-20 and cut the deficit to 2-1.

Vietnam quickly regained control in the fourth set, maintaining composure and dictating play before closing out the match 25-19.

The 3-1 victory gives head coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his squad an ideal start to the tournament and valuable momentum ahead of tougher matches against Indonesia and Thailand in the race for the opening-leg title.
