
According to information released by LPBank, Vuong owns 4.894% of the bank's charter capital, equivalent to 146.2 million shares.
The disclosure places him among shareholders holding at least 1% of LPBank's charter capital, a category banks are required to report under Article 49 of Vietnam's 2024 Law on Credit Institutions, which took effect on July 1, 2024.
The Vietnam Post Corporation (VNPost) remains LPBank's largest shareholder, holding 6.537% of charter capital, equivalent to 195.3 million shares.
Apart from VNPost and Pham Nhat Vuong, no other shareholder currently owns more than 1% of LPBank's charter capital.
LPBank's charter capital currently stands at nearly VND30 trillion (USD1.15 billion).
The disclosure marks the first time Vuong has appeared on LPBank's list of shareholders owning at least 1% of the lender's capital.
Shortly after the announcement, LPBank shares surged to their daily trading limit. On June 23, LPB stock rose VND3,400 to VND52,600 per share, extending its winning streak to seven consecutive sessions.
At that market price, Vuong's stake in LPBank is valued at roughly VND7.7 trillion (USD295 million).
The bank's announcement was followed by an unusual internal initiative. Around 10,000 LPBank employees received a transfer of VND680,000 (USD26) each on June 23, accompanied by the message: "Welcome the new major shareholder."
With approximately 10,000 employees, the total amount distributed is estimated at VND6.8 billion (USD260,000).
The payments were made shortly after LPBank officially disclosed Vuong's shareholding.
According to Forbes' latest ranking as of June 22, Pham Nhat Vuong's net worth was estimated at USD33.9 billion, placing him 93rd among the world's billionaires.
