The Vietnam-Brazil Friendship Association held its second national congress in the 2016-2020 term, on April 26 in Hanoi, to boost the two countries’ cooperation in a wide range of fields.

The congress elected the Association’s 37-member executive committee. Former Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Van Lang was re-elected as the association’s chairman for the second term.

In the next term, the association will continue promoting communication on Vietnam – Brazil comprehensive relations, with a focus on cooperation in economics, trade, investment, culture and science-technology.

Brazilian Ambassador to Vietnam Marco Brandao said over the past five years, the association has helped boost bilateral trade and investment exchanges as well as the mutual understanding between the two nations’ peoples.

President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations Vu Xuan Hong hailed the achievements the association has made over the past tenure, saying that it has contributed to boosting trade between the two nations.

He expressed his hope that the association will continue to promote people-to-people diplomacy between Vietnam and Brazil , thus nurturing the friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the two nations.
