Deputy Minister of Transport Le Dinh Tho (L) on behalf of the Vietnamese Government is seen at the signing of a bilateral agreement on air transport with Brazil on July 2 (local time)

When the agreement takes effect, official cooperation on aviation transport between the two countries will be established. The main aim is to encourage the airlines of both nations to study the operations of each other’s aviation market.

The provisions of the agreement are designed to facilitate market access. The agreement makes it possible for airlines of each country to operate flights to both markets.

They can also determine the frequency of flights and supply load in line with the market and to calculate fares.

Notably, they are also allowed to forge partnerships, enter into commercial cooperation agreements and lease aircraft for their own operations.

The agreement also introduces regulations on measures aimed at strengthening the management and inspection of aviation safety and security practices in line with the recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organization, a specialized agency of the United Nations.

The agreement follows the liberalization trend of the international civil aviation market and is in accordance with Vietnam’s civil aviation development policy.

In September 2017, the two countries also signed a bilateral maritime transport agreement.

The two agreements are expected to help better meet the demand for travel and cargo transport among both nations’ citizens and businesses, thereby promoting economic and commercial cooperation, cultural exchanges and tourism.
