The Secretary of State made his statement during a meeting with visiting Vietnamese Deputy Transport Minister Nguyen Nhat on November 29.

Deputy Minister Nhat said his ministry will work closely with Cambodian partners to implement a number of joint transport projects, particularly the Ho Chi Minh – Phnom Penh highway.

The two sides also considered a memorandum of understanding between the two governments on a transport connection strategy.

In addition, Vietnam and Cambodia will apply the “one stop, one check” model at the Moc Bai-Bavet international border gates to reduce customs clearance time and facilitate goods transport and travel between the two countries.

Earlier, on November 28, Deputy Minister Nguyen Nhat met with Mao Havannal, Cambodian Secretary of State at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and head of the Civil Aviation Secretariat.

Hailing Vietnam’s support toward his country in training aviation workforce, Mao Havannal requested the Vietnamese transport ministry and aviation sector to continue the assistance through more short-term and long-term training courses.

Nhat said the Vietnam Transport Ministry will collaborate with the Cambodian counterpart in revising the bilateral aviation agreement signed in 1996 to make it suitable to current demand. VNA
