On the morning of June 8, following an official welcome ceremony, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and Prime Minister Hun Manet held talks at the Government Headquarters in Hanoi, accompanied by senior delegations from both countries.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung highly valued Hun Manet’s visit and participation in the ASEAN Future Forum, saying it would help strengthen political trust, deepen Vietnam-Cambodia relations and promote solidarity, cooperation and connectivity within ASEAN.
He reaffirmed that Vietnam consistently places high priority on its relationship with Cambodia, guided by the principles of good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term sustainability.
Prime Minister Hun Manet reaffirmed the Cambodian government’s commitment to coordinating closely with Vietnam in implementing the outcomes of the high-level meeting between the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Standing Committee of the Cambodian People’s Party, the meeting of the leaders of the ruling parties of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos held in February this year, and other high-level agreements reached between the two countries.
The two leaders expressed satisfaction with the positive momentum in bilateral relations. Political trust continues to deepen, defense and security cooperation remains a key pillar, while trade, investment and tourism have emerged as major highlights.

Bilateral trade reached nearly USD 5 billion during the first four months of 2026, up 9.6% compared with the same period in 2025.
Vietnam welcomed nearly 400,000 Cambodian visitors during the same period, an increase of 41.6% year-on-year. Progress has also been made in border affairs, while cooperation in education, culture, social development and people-to-people exchanges continues to expand.
Guided by a shared determination to transform traditional friendship into a driver of development and historical closeness into strategic connectivity, the two sides exchanged views on major directions for advancing bilateral cooperation.
The leaders agreed to further strengthen political trust and maintain close defense and security cooperation. They reaffirmed their commitment not to allow hostile forces to use one country’s territory to undermine the security or interests of the other.
They also agreed to deepen economic integration and enhance cooperation in culture, education and tourism.

The two sides reached broad agreement on infrastructure and border connectivity. They pledged to accelerate links between the Ho Chi Minh City-Moc Bai Expressway and the Bavet-Phnom Penh Expressway, study the expansion of air routes connecting Vietnam and Cambodia as well as Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, and explore the establishment of special economic zones and cross-border economic zones.
Both countries also agreed to facilitate customs clearance and improve conditions for the movement of goods.
Prime Minister Hun Manet endorsed proposals from Prime Minister Le Minh Hung to encourage businesses from both countries to invest in sectors where they share strengths and demand, including agricultural processing, aquaculture, clean energy, construction materials and logistics.
The two leaders also agreed to expand cooperation in education and training and improve the quality of human resources.
Vietnam and Cambodia will coordinate closely to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027, marking six decades since ties were established on June 24, 1967, through a series of meaningful commemorative activities.
Amid an increasingly complex and unpredictable regional and global environment, both sides agreed to strengthen coordination at regional and international forums, particularly within Mekong cooperation mechanisms, ASEAN and the United Nations.
They also pledged to maintain consultations on strategic issues of mutual concern and work with other ASEAN members to reinforce regional solidarity, resilience and the peaceful settlement of differences.

Chairman Tran Thanh Man welcomed the outcomes of the talks between the two prime ministers, particularly the practical measures agreed upon to implement orientations and agreements reached by senior leaders of the two parties and states.
He reaffirmed that Vietnam’s National Assembly consistently supports efforts to expand and deepen the relationship of good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term sustainability between the two countries.
Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed deep appreciation for the support and assistance that Vietnam has provided to Cambodia in all circumstances, particularly its role in helping Cambodia emerge from the genocidal Pol Pot regime and in supporting the country’s development thereafter.
He also praised Vietnam’s contributions to human resource development and social welfare programs, including healthcare initiatives serving border communities.

Hun Manet reaffirmed that the Cambodian government will continue creating favorable conditions for people of Vietnamese origin living in Cambodia and encourages them to serve as an important bridge of friendship between the two nations.
The two leaders welcomed the substantive progress achieved in relations between the two parties and countries across a wide range of sectors.
They agreed that both legislatures should support efforts to strengthen economic connectivity through enhanced infrastructure development, road, waterway and air transport links, and improved cooperation between border gates in order to promote trade, investment, sustainable development and people-to-people exchanges.
Vietnam and Cambodia will also intensify cooperation in combating cross-border crime, particularly online fraud, with the goal of maintaining a peaceful, stable, cooperative and developing border area.
The two leaders highly valued the growing cooperation between the Cambodian Senate, the Cambodian National Assembly and Vietnam’s National Assembly, particularly the regular meetings between parliamentary leaders on the sidelines of multilateral forums.
They emphasized the historical significance of bilateral relations and reaffirmed the importance of raising public awareness, especially among younger generations, about the shared history and responsibility to preserve and strengthen the relationship between the two parties and countries.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Hun Manet and the accompanying high-level Cambodian delegation laid a wreath and paid tribute at the Mausoleum of President Ho Chi Minh. The delegation also laid a wreath at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs on Bac Son Street in Hanoi.
