Viet Nam placed first at the fourth Asian Pencak Silat Championship, which closed on Thursday at Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Stadium, in Srinagar City, India.

The Vietnamese made outstanding performance and fights to harvest 22 medals that included 12 golds, four silvers and six bronzes.
Singapore came second with the same number of medals as Viet Nam but only seven golds. Indonesia were in third, securing 17 medals. Indonesia could not dominate the tournament as they did several weeks ago at the Asian Games on their home turf. The country is the home land of the martial art.
Around 250 players and officials from 10 countries including South Korea, Chinese Taipei, the Philippines and India participated in the three-day event beginning from September 30.
The players participated in 24 events, out of which 18 were fight competition and six artistic or shadow fight competitions. — VNS
