The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Communist Party of China (CPC) shared experience in enhancing the Party’s leadership in press and media work in the new situation at their 13th theoretical workshop held in Henan province, China, on May 25-26.

The Vietnamese delegation was led by Vo Van Thuong, Politburo member, Secretary of the CPV Central Committee, and head of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education, while the Chinese delegation was headed by Liu Qibao, Politburo member, Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, and head of the CPC Central Committee’s Publicity Department.

Thuong said the CPV has promoted the crucial role of the press and media in the cause of national liberation, building and development. He reiterated the Party’s viewpoint and policy of respecting and protecting the freedom of the press and the freedom of speech as important value of the socialist democracy.

The CPV has been creating the optimal conditions for the press to develop to meet the public increasing demand on information, involve in social supervision and criticism, combat corruption, and bridge the connectivity between the Party, State and people.

Press agencies and journalists are told to enhance political-social responsibility and professional ethics to ensure justice, honesty, and objectivity for the benefits of people and the whole society.

Thuong said amidst the globaliation, democratisation, and strong development of internet and social networks, the reform and enhancement of the Party’s leadership is of importance to achieve the national renovation and development targets.

Liu Qibao shared useful experience of the CPC and underlined the significance of increasing the Party’s leadership and management on the press and media in a creative and scientific manner to proactively provide information and orientation for the public.

The two officials affirmed that the workshop contributed to the reinforcement of friendship and cooperation between the two Parties.

At their earlier talks on May 24, the host and guest exchanged measures to improve the bilateral cooperation efficiency.
