A project on developing a network of Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) in Vietnam was introduced in Hanoi on April 8.
This is a key project of the Vietnam Department of Survey and Mapping (VDSM) under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
Speaking at the event, Director of the VDSM Phan Duc Hieu said the project will help bolster the application of new technology, and increase productivity in surveying and mapping, contributing to the modernisation of the sector’s infrastructure.
The department will continue to develop regulations and technological statutes in the area in order to meet increasingly high demand.
According to Phan Ngoc Mai, Deputy Director of the VDSM, the project will be implemented from 2016-2020 in five phases. It will build a total of 65 CORS with the central monitoring and processing station to be located in Hanoi.
