Vietnam welcomes multifaceted cooperation with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), particularly in science as well as information and technology, said Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Pham Thanh Hung.

Hung made the statement at a working session with the DPRK’s Ambassador to Vietnam Kim Myong Gil in Hanoi on October 4, adding that these sectors are important to the overall growth of Vietnam.

He went on to highlight the time-honoured relationship between the two countries and recent developments achieved by the DPRK, in particular those in information and technology.

Kim Myong Gil said his country pays heed to the development of science and technology, particularly early education and special training for gifted students in the field.

The DPRK wishes to connect its proficient IT manpower to Vietnam’s IT infrastructure, helping Vietnam reach its development goals, the diplomat noted.

At the session, the officials sought to step up cooperation in the training of high-quality human resources and in the sharing of information in the coming time.
