Vietnam’s football team is 145 th in FIFA rankings in May, one step down from last month, according to the Vietnam Football Federation.

Regionally, the country maintained its position as 23rd in Asia and third in the Southeast Asian region.

It was not a surprise as the national team has not played any significant match since March.

In Southeast Asia, the Philippines led the rankings, followed by Thailand . Laos made the greatest advance, jumping six places to 176 th .

Meanwhile, Iran came first in Asia, followed by Australia, and the Republic of Korea. Syria, the competitor of the Vietnamese team in a friendly match scheduled to be held on May 31, was ranked 110th globally and 14th in Asia .

The world rankings still saw Argentina topping, followed by Belgium and Chile.
