Vietnamese teams won three out of five gold medals at the Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia Young Circus Talent Contest, which wrapped up in Hanoi on December 12 after five days of competition.
The team from the Vietnam Circus and Variety Arts School was awarded with two gold medals while the Vietnam Circus Federation brought home a third.
Two other gold medals went to the ‘Girl and Rose’ and ‘Martial Arts’ acts by the Laos National Circus and the Circus Troupe from Cambodia, respectively.
Eight silver medals were also presented at the closing ceremony, with six of them going to Vietnamese performers. Best director, best coach and best performer were also named on the occasion.
According to Phouk Narin from Cambodia, a member of the jury board, this year’s contest featured many excellent acts showing the entrants’ tireless efforts in preparation for the event as well as their professional skills.
She also noted that many of the items featured national identities of participating countries, which are capable of competing at international events.
The festival brought together nearly 200 young circus performers aged between 14 and 27 from six troupes from the three countries.
It created a venue for the performers, directors and coaches to show off their talents, creativity, innovation and professionalism in staging their acts.
It also helped strengthen solidarity and friendly co-operation among the three Indochinese countries.
The next edition of the contest will be hosted in Laos in 2017.
