This year’s celebrities for the month-long event leading up to the Earth Hour running 8:30-9:30pm on March 25 are veteran singers Isaac and Ai Phuong.

Isaac said the movement that has taken off in Vietnam demonstrates the growing public concern about the deteriorating environmental conditions and highlights the need for finding solutions to climate change.

Switching off unnecessary lights for an hour may seem a small act but the collective magnitude of this gesture is unimaginable, he added.

He stressed the need for changing the public mindset towards the environment to have a better future for coming generations.

Ai Phuong said the movement has provided the people of Vietnam with an opportunity to think beyond their own interests and look at the bigger picture that depicts the future of our country.

I have joined this campaign to play my part as a responsible citizen and help bring about a change not only in public perception but also through practical actions, she noted.

She added that people must start to realize that the environment has a huge impact on their daily lives and take every positive step to create a long-term benefit for themselves and the rest of the people in the country and world.
