A bus carrying the Indonesian football squad was attacked by Vietnamese football fans in Hanoi on December 8, 2016.

VFF's General-secretary, Le Hoai Anh, told local media on Thursday that the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has announced the fine following the incident.

"The AFC announced the fine of USD 38,000 and issued a warning because that was the first time such an incident occurred here,'' Anh said.

Vietnamese football fans threw stones through the windows of a bus carrying the Indonesian football squad from My Dinh Stadium to their hotel in Hanoi on December 8 evening after the second semi-final match of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup.

The Football Association of Indonesia said a doctor and assistant coach were injured when fans threw rocks through the bus windows. They have reported the incident to the AFF authorities.
VFF then arranged doctors to care for the two injured Indonesians, and provided a replacement bus and additional security to escort them back to their hotel.

Vietnam and Indonesia drew 2-2 in the second leg of the Suzuki Cup semi-final, with Indonesia going through on aggregate.
