They are Kim Sun Woo, 21, and Lee Kang Woon, 25, who were wanted by RoK police in connection with the illegal transportation and trafficking of marijuana, one of the most abused drugs in the world.
According to RoK police, Lee and his accomplices regularly traded marijuana illegally through social networks.
Lee received about 400g of marijuana in Hanoi on September 12, 2017, which was hidden in tea bags to be brought to the RoK. With the same trick, he transported another 8.7kg of marijuana from Noi Bai International Airport to the RoK on October 25, 2017.
Investigations of Hanoi’s Dong Da Police revealed that Lee stayed at his Korean friends’ houses in Vietnam as a tourist and organised drug trafficking. He met Kim in Vietnam, who had been sentenced to one year in prison for his illegal drug use.
When he was in Vietnam, Kim worked as a link to transport marijuana from Vietnam to the RoK.
The men were arrested on December 21, 2017 in Ngoc Lam ward, Long Bien district, Hanoi.
While receiving the men, Pack Won Beak from the RoK Ministry of Justice lauded the cooperation of Hanoi Police and other agencies of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security.
He said both Kim and Lee are related to a big online drug ring in the RoK and have faced criminal proceedings since December 2017.-VNA
