Chief inspector at the Ministry of Health Dang Van Chinh today announced its plan to send inspectors to Suntory Pepsico Vietnam for a thorough check of firm’s products.

The inspection will last 45 days from September 7. As per the plan, inspectors will check the firm’s implementation of the regulation and verify distributors, providers of material, additives and package

Along with this, inspectors will have proposal to amend the regulation because they detected loophole in the law.

The chief inspector said that as per the plan, from the beginning of the year, the Ministry of Health has paid inspection to Coca-Cola Beverages Vietnam and beverage firm URC Vietnam.

The two beverage companies were fined for violating food safety regulations following inspections.

Accordingly, the health inspector urged authorities in six cities and provinces to keep an eye on suspension of 13 drinks of Coca Cola Vietnam because the beverage firm has not licensed to produce nutrition supplements. The company was fined VND433 million (US$19,300) and was also asked to recall a batch of energy drink.

The ministry fined beverage firm URC Vietnam more than VND5.8 billion ($260,000) for producing and selling products with high lead content.  Additionally, the firm must recall its toxic products out of supermarket shelves.
