Vietnam entered the second round of the Asian U-19 Women’s Volleyball Championship after beating Sri Lanka 3-0 in the preliminary round in Thailand on July 24.
The Vietnamese quickly set up their domination and won the first set 25-8 against the tournament’s No 8 seed in a Group A match.
The second and third sets were even easier for them with wins of 25-6 and 25-10.
The win places Vietnam in second position behind Thailand, who beat Vietnam 13-21, 15-21, 16-21, on Saturday.
It means that Vietnam and Thailand have earned their berths in the next classification round, irrespective of the result of a match between Thailand and Sri Lanka later yesterday.
Vietnam and Thailand will be in the same Pool E together with Japan and No 6 seed India.
