The second deputy ministerial-level Security Dialogue between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Indonesian National Police takes place in Jakarta on December 18.

The dialogue formed part of the activities to implement agreements the two sides made at the second meeting of the Vietnam-Indonesia Bilateral Cooperation Committee in Indonesia June 2015 and reap the success of the first security dialogue in Hanoi last year.

In his opening remarks at the event, INP Deputy Chief General Syafruddin welcomed the Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Minister of Public Security Nguyen Van Son. He highlighted the long-standing bilateral relations between the two countries and years of cooperation between the two sides and urged them to forge stronger collaboration to address security threats in the future.

For his part, Son said the second dialogue in Indonesia aims to further intensify the two countries’ effort to combat drug trafficking, human trafficking, cyber-crimes, and other non-traditional crimes.

“We hope that through this dialogue, the efficiency of cooperation in crime prevention between the Ministry of Public Security and the Indonesian National Police and other ASEAN nations will be further enhanced,” he added.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed results of their cooperation over the past year in all areas and exchanged information and experience in the fight against transnational crimes, such as drug trafficking, human trafficking, piracy and terrorism.

They agreed to increase information exchange in security issues and fast-track negotiations of several agreements and legal documents in the time ahead.-VNA
