The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) yesterday announced that aviation security will be tightened from May 20-25 to ensure safety for the coming elections of the 14th National Assembly (NA) and people’s councils of all levels in the term of 2016-2021.

Authorized agencies will intensify patrol and supervision in restricted areas at airports, access to these areas will be limited.

Security measures including Interview and identification check will be strengthened. Passengers will have to take off their jackets and shoes which will be scanned through X-ray machines.

In addition, security personnel will keep continuous control over checked baggage. Passengers will be required not to leave their hand baggage.

The administration also asks to strengthen supervision over public areas at airports and prepare measures in advance to deal with cases of gatherings and disrupting order.
