The organizers of the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 have announced an earlier opening time, allowing public access four hours earlier than previously scheduled. This adjustment provides more opportunities for the public to admire the achievements of Vietnam’s and the world’s defense industries.
Scheduled for this week in Hanoi, the second Vietnam International Defense Exhibition will be held at Gia Lam Airport under the theme “Peace, Friendship, Cooperation, and Development.” The event is a highlight of the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 35th All-People’s National Defense Festival.
The opening ceremony will take place from 9 AM to 11 AM on December 19, followed by a private viewing period for industry professionals until December 22. Originally, the public was permitted to visit from 1:30 PM on December 21, but the updated schedule allows access from 9 AM that day.
Showcase of advanced defense technology
Organized by Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defense, the exhibition aims to share advancements, research, production experiences, and cooperation in defense industries among participating nations. This year’s event will display cutting-edge combat vehicles, weaponry, and technology solutions for naval, ground, and air forces, as well as cybersecurity and logistics systems.
Vietnam’s exhibits will include products developed by the Ministry of National Defense, as well as its commercial and service units, showcasing domestic research and manufacturing capabilities.
Opportunities for collaboration
Lieutenant General Bui Quoc Oai, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of the Vietnam Coast Guard, emphasized the exhibition's significance for the Coast Guard. He noted that about two-thirds of the Coast Guard’s current fleet was constructed by Vietnam’s General Department of Defense Industry.
“The event offers a chance to study advanced products such as patrol vessels, drones, reconnaissance equipment, and unmanned surveillance systems,” Oai explained. These insights will help the Coast Guard propose suitable acquisitions and technology transfers to meet operational demands.
Additionally, the Coast Guard aims to collaborate with other defense agencies to commission the design and production of modern equipment tailored to its specific needs. The exhibition will also help identify potential partners for sourcing and integrating advanced technologies into Vietnam’s broader defense capabilities.
