At a regular press briefing held on January 29, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang responded to media questions following statements from the Gaza Peace Council and the US Embassy in Hanoi, both welcoming Vietnam as a founding member.
“Vietnam’s consistent position is to support and contribute to international efforts aimed at resolving conflicts and disputes through peaceful means, in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter, and with respect for the legitimate rights of all parties involved,” Hang emphasized.

As one of the first countries to recognize the State of Palestine, Vietnam welcomed all initiatives promoting lasting peace in Gaza, specifically those grounded in legal principles and aimed at protecting the rights and safety of the Palestinian people.
Vietnam has endorsed the peace plan adopted under UN Security Council Resolution 2803 on November 17, 2025. Based on this plan, Vietnam accepted the invitation to join the newly established Gaza Peace Council to support its implementation.
“Vietnam will actively coordinate with other council members to implement the peace plan, with the goal of ending the conflict in Gaza and promoting sustainable peace in the Middle East,” Hang said. “This will be based on a two-state solution that respects international law, the UN Charter, and relevant UN resolutions.”
Also during the briefing, the Foreign Ministry addressed questions about recent tensions between the US and Iran. Vietnam said it is closely monitoring the developments in the region.
“Vietnam calls on all parties to exercise restraint and avoid escalating tensions,” Hang stated. “Disputes should be resolved through peaceful dialogue and negotiations, in strict adherence to international law and the UN Charter. Respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-use or threat of force must be upheld in international relations.”
Vietnam also called on parties involved to create favorable conditions for peace negotiations to ensure security and stability in the region and beyond.
The Foreign Ministry reiterated its travel advisory issued on January 15, urging Vietnamese citizens to avoid non-essential travel to Iran at this time.
Vietnamese nationals currently residing in Iran were advised to stay informed, follow local government travel and safety regulations, and observe all warnings from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
For assistance, citizens in Iran can contact the Vietnamese Embassy or the Ministry’s citizen protection hotline.
