Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan and Lao Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Bosengkham Vongdala discussed measures to strengthen bilateral partnership in the future during their talks in Vientiane on November 2.
The two sides agreed that information cooperation between the two sides has been fruitful, contributing to deepening mutual understanding and solidarity between the two nations.
They have worked together to report visits of leaders of both countries, while exchanging TV programmes, documentary films, publications, and affiliating in holding activities to celebrate major events of each country, they noted.
The two ministries have coordinated closely in sharing experience in designing policies on State management over information, and training media staff, for Laos with three courses held in 2017.
The two sides agreed that regular exchanges of media staff have helped the two sides popularize news of the respective nation, people and socio-development achievements, thus strengthening mutual understanding and solidarity between the two peoples and developing bilateral ties.
Joint projects in radio and television fields have been implemented effectively, improving the coverage of radio and television programmes to all areas of Laos, serving the country’s information and popularization activities.
In the coming time, they agreed to continue prioritizing and increasing exchanges of high-level delegations and reporters, while sharing experience in media profession and management.
Vietnam will continue providing short-term support to Lao officials in press and publishing activities management and organization.
Vietnam and Laos will continue increasing exchanges of media programmes, encouraging media agencies to build cooperation plans with Laos and creating optimal conditions for them to popularize news of the ach country, especially in important events.
At the same time, the two sides also concurred to back media agencies, publishing houses and television channels of both countries to foster direct partnership to share technology and experience.
They will also continue proposing affiliation contents through the Inter-Governmental Committee, thus assisting the implementation of projects to improve the capacity of radio and television stations of Laos.
Following the talks, ministry leaders signed a plan of actions that will serve as a foundation for the establishment of a joint working group to coordinate and implement cooperation in information between the two countries in the future.-VNA
