Minister of Home Affairs Le Vinh Tan (R) hosts a reception for his Lao counterpart Khamman Sounvileuth

Minister Le Vinh Tan gave his guest a brief overview of the Ministry of Home Affairs of Vietnam and looked back at the cooperation agreements signed between the two ministries since 1995.

The Ministries of Home Affairs of Vietnam and Laos have organised a number of joint activities and exchanged delegations under their cooperation programme for the 2016-2020 period signed in 2016.

The Vietnamese ministry has provided training for officials of the Lao National Archives Department. In addition, many Lao officials and students have received training in the State administrative management in Vietnam in the framework of cooperation programmes between the two governments and other ministries.

Tan suggested the two sides meet to review what have been done annually to timely address arising problems and make plans for the following years. There should be more delegation exchange visits to strengthen solidarity and friendship between the two countries, he said.

Minister Tan affirmed that his ministry is ready to send experts to Laos to continue training its officials.

Khammanh Sounvileuth, for his part, stressed that the bilateral cooperation between the two sides in recent years is very important to Laos. He also thanked Vietnam for funding the construction of the Lao National Archives.

On behalf of the Lao State and Party, Minister Khamman Sounvileuth presented the Lao Order of Freedom, second class, to Minister Le Vinh Tan and the third-class Order of Freedom to five Vice Ministers of Home Affairs of Vietnam.

He also presented the first-class Labour Order to several individuals and units of Vietnam’s Ministry of Home Affairs for contributing to the solidarity between the two countries.
