Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched a new digital platform designed to monitor and manage the implementation of the country’s international commitments and agreements, marking a major step in the government’s push for digital governance and coordinated foreign policy oversight.

The platform was introduced during a training workshop held on May 19 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordination with the Party Central Committee Office and military-run telecoms giant Viettel.

The initiative forms part of the implementation of Secretariat Directive No. 56 on strengthening the Party’s leadership over the signing and execution of international agreements and commitments.

Le Dinh Tinh, director general of the Foreign Policy Department at Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said high-level diplomatic activities in recent years - particularly overseas visits by senior Party, state, parliamentary and government leaders - have played a critical role in deepening political trust and expanding international cooperation.

According to Le Dinh Tinh, the visits have not only strengthened bilateral relations but also helped establish comprehensive cooperation frameworks in key areas including defense, security, trade, science and technology, culture, education and training.

“The most tangible outcome of those activities is the growing system of bilateral and multilateral agreements, memoranda of understanding and international commitments signed by Vietnam,” he said.

Since the beginning of the 13th Party Congress term, Vietnam has signed more than 1,200 international agreements and commitments, with the number expected to continue rising in the coming years.

Officials said the rapid increase in international commitments has created an urgent need for a unified digital mechanism capable of systematically tracking implementation progress, coordinating agencies and identifying obstacles in real time.

The newly launched software is designed to provide synchronized and continuously updated data, helping authorities improve management, policy coordination and implementation oversight across ministries, sectors and local governments.

Representatives from Viettel introduced the platform’s core functions during the workshop and guided participants through data entry and reporting procedures on the system.

Officials said the platform would help address longstanding issues such as delayed updates, fragmented information and inconsistent coordination among agencies responsible for implementing international agreements.

Workshop participants also raised questions regarding data updates, implementation timelines and reporting methods, highlighting growing demand for digital tools capable of supporting Vietnam’s expanding international engagement.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the training program aimed to strengthen digital transformation capacity among ministries, agencies and local authorities while facilitating standardized reporting and management procedures on the new platform.
