On August 25, the Ministry of Finance, under the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung, officially launched three innovation and expert networks in strategic technologies: Quantum Technology (VNQuantum), Cybersecurity (ViSecurity), and Aerospace & Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV Vietnam). These networks are expected to enhance Vietnam's role in the global technology value chain.

According to Deputy Minister of Finance Do Thanh Trung, “Quantum technology, cybersecurity, and aerospace - UAVs are emerging as three strategic pillars shaping the future of global economy, security, and defense, with market potential estimated in the hundreds to thousands of billions of US dollars in the next decade.”

In Vietnam, under Prime Ministerial Decision 1131, quantum technology, cybersecurity, and aerospace are listed among 11 strategic technology sectors. Quantum technology offers breakthroughs in computation, ultra-secure communication, and sensing. Cybersecurity serves as a critical safeguard for the nation’s digital infrastructure. Meanwhile, aerospace and UAV technology foster the development of the space economy, modern defense, and logistics capabilities.

Do Thanh Trung emphasized that with a young workforce, vast application potential, and strong market demand, Vietnam has a “golden opportunity” to deeply integrate into global value chains and gradually position itself as a hub of innovation in these critical fields.

The VNQuantum network is built upon three pillars: training high-quality human resources, accelerating the application of quantum technology in finance, healthcare, national security, and defense, and strengthening international collaboration for knowledge transfer.

The ViSecurity network aims to master security technologies, develop “Make in Vietnam” solutions to protect essential digital infrastructure, and connect experts, businesses, and research institutions with global cybersecurity centers. ViSecurity’s Chairman, Ngo Tuan Anh, stated, “ViSecurity will play a vital role in positioning Vietnam as a regional and global innovation hub for cybersecurity.”

The UAV Vietnam network aspires to transform the country from a consumer of drone technology into a producer, innovator, and key player in the global aerospace and UAV industry value chain.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung described the establishment of the three strategic tech networks as the beginning of a long journey where Vietnamese intelligence from both within the country and the diaspora can unite to shape the nation's future.

“Developing strategic technology sectors is no longer an option - it is a national development imperative. Resolution 57 and Resolution 68 have given us a new spirit and vision. Decision 1131 has set our goals. And today, the launch of these innovation and expert networks marks a decisive step forward,” he declared.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed hope that these networks will act as “extended arms” of the government, collaborating with ministries, agencies, and businesses to proactively participate in strategic planning, policy formulation, and the promotion of research and the application of new technologies. This would help tackle major national challenges and turn difficult problems into “great opportunities” for the future.

Together with the semiconductor and artificial intelligence networks established in 2024, these three new networks are expected to grow into key “innovation nuclei” within Vietnam’s strategic technology sectors.
