Vietnam have officially learned their final opponent in the group stage of ASEAN Cup 2026.

After cruising to a 6-1 aggregate victory across two play-off legs, Timor-Leste became the last team to qualify for the regional tournament. The result also confirmed Timor-Leste as Vietnam's opening opponent in the competition.

Group A now consists of Indonesia, Singapore, Cambodia, Timor-Leste and Vietnam. Group B features Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines and Laos.

The team coached by Kim Sang Sik will enter the tournament with the objective of defending the ASEAN Cup title.

Vietnam's preparations have also received a boost after the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) reached an agreement with the management board of the My Dinh National Sports Complex to use My Dinh Stadium as the home venue for the national team's matches during ASEAN Cup 2026.

The tournament will be played in a single round-robin home-and-away format from July 24 to August 8. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.

Both the semi-finals and final will be contested over two legs.

According to the fixture schedule, Nguyen Xuan Son and his teammates will host Singapore and Cambodia during the group stage, while travelling to face Indonesia and Timor-Leste away from home.

Vietnam are expected to assemble in late June before heading to South Korea for a training camp. The squad will then return home to begin their campaign to retain the ASEAN Cup crown.
