Vietnam bid farewell to Asian Cup with a 2-3 defeat to Iraq after conceding in the last minute of the game.

Accordingly, the team was therefore deducted 11.32 points and pushed down to the second place in the region.

Before the Asian Cup kicked off in Qatar, Vietnam were placed 94th in the FIFA rankings with 1,235.58 points, ranking first in Southeast Asia.

Vietnam also lost 6.47 ranking points after being defeated 2-4 by Japan and  23.26 points after suffering  a 0-1 loss to Indonesia.

They now have 1,194 points, dropping to 105th place and falling off world's top 100. This is the lowest rankings of the Vietnamese national team since 2018.

The FIFA world rankings, usually updated every one or two months, are based on the coefficient of the matches. It will be updated on February 15.
