In men’s singles, Shesar Hiren Rhustavito from Indonesia beat Ajiay Jayaram from India 2-0 in the final to claim the championship.
Meanwhile, Singaporean player Yeo Jia Min won 2-0 against China’s Han Yue to seize the first place in women’s singles.
The Thai team triumphed in mixed doubles after defeating the Indonesian team 2-1.
The team from the Republic of Korea ranked first in men’s doubles, while the second place went to the team from Taiwan (China). The Japanese squads secured the top two places in women’s doubles.
More than 400 players from 26 nations and territories competed in five categories of men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles, with prize money totalling 75,000 USD.
The level of this year’s tournament has been upgraded from Grand Prix to World Tour Super 100, thus drawing more top-ranking international players, said Vice Chairwoman of HCM City Badminton Federation Hoang Thi Thu Ha.
The Yonex – Sunrise Vietnam Open is a prestigious tournament held annually in Vietnam. Its results are included in the BWF ranking system.- VNA
