The Finish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided to recognise Vietnam’s newly issues passport as long as information about the holder’s place of birth is properly added and stamped in the passport.
The embassy of Finland in Hanoi said the reason for the non-recognition is due to the lack of place of birth on the new passports.
The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) is planning to add the “place of birth” to the new passport version to facilitate citizens’ seeking of visas to the Schengen countries.
Vietnam has climbed to 57th on a list of the most powerful passports in the world, according to the latest report by Haley Passport Index issued in September.
