On December 20, the Authority of Information Security (AIS) under the Ministry of Information and Communications, in collaboration with Google, launched the "Official Government App" feature on Google Play.

This initiative, the first of its kind globally, aims to help Vietnamese users quickly recognize authentic government-issued apps, ensuring safety and security online.

The feature provides a “Government” label for verified apps on Google Play, making it easier for users to trust these applications. Over 80 government apps in Vietnam, including VNeID, VssID, and "i-SPEED by VNNIC," have already received this designation.

This label ensures users can confidently access essential public services like digital identification and other state-provided platforms. The list of verified apps is also published on the Trustworthy Network System at tinnhiemmang.vn.

Tran Quang Hung, Acting Director of AIS, emphasized the importance of the new feature in bolstering public trust in digital services.

“This feature enables users to identify and utilize official government services more easily while raising awareness and confidence in state digital platforms,” he said.

Wilson White, Vice President of Public Policy and Government Relations for Asia-Pacific at Google, highlighted the company’s commitment to enhancing app discovery and reliability on Google Play.

“Government apps provide critical services, and we aim to ensure users can find the right service they need,” White stated.

AIS plans to continue working with Google and relevant agencies to expand the initiative, enhancing user safety and trust in the digital space.
