The Party’s Central Commission for Propaganda recently issued guidance on commemorating major national holidays and important historical events between 2026 and 2030.

For the remainder of 2026, national-level events will include the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s first National Cultural Conference, held on November 24, 1946, as well as Vietnam Culture Day on November 24.

December 2026 will mark the 80th anniversary of the start of the Nationwide Resistance War on December 19, 1946, also with national-level commemorations.

A number of other anniversaries will be marked nationally between 2026 and 2030.

They include the 300th anniversary of the birth of scholar Le Quy Don; the 80th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day; the 950th anniversary of the victory on the Nhu Nguyet River and Nam quoc son ha, regarded in Vietnam as the country’s first declaration of independence; and the 600th anniversary of the Chi Lang-Xuong Giang victory.

Other commemorations include the 110th anniversary of the birth of former Communist Party General Secretary Do Muoi; the 800th anniversary of the birth of military commander Tran Quoc Tuan, also known as Hung Dao Dai Vuong; and the 50th anniversary of the end of the war on Vietnam’s southwestern border.

The Communist Party’s centenary on February 3, 2030, will be commemorated at the national level.

Under the plan, the main ceremony, military parade and procession marking the 100th anniversary will take place at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi on February 3, 2030.

Hanoi will take the lead in organizing the commemorative ceremony in coordination with the Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant agencies.

The Ministry of National Defense will take the lead in organizing the military parade and procession, working with the Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Hanoi authorities and other agencies.

The commemoration will be organized by the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, National Assembly, State President, Government, Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and Hanoi authorities.

The Communist Party general secretary is scheduled to deliver the commemorative address.

The centenary program will also include meetings and events honoring veteran officials, people recognized for contributions to the country and selected families of people who rendered services to the nation.

Current and former senior Party and state leaders, members of the Communist Party Central Committee from different periods and people recognized for major contributions to the Party’s revolutionary cause will also take part in commemorative activities.

The plan also calls for a meeting between the Party general secretary and representatives of high-performing grassroots Party organizations, veteran and exemplary Party members, people who rendered services to the nation, selected families and representatives of different sections of society from northern, central and southern Vietnam.

Other activities will review 100 years of Communist Party leadership of the Vietnamese revolution and set out orientations for the country’s development over the following century.

Vietnam will also review 40 years of implementing its Platform for National Construction during the transition to socialism.

The Museum of the Communist Party of Vietnam is also scheduled to be inaugurated as part of the centenary commemorations.
