This figure represents a decrease of 38.5% in volume and 39.7% in value compared to the same period from last year.

Currently, Indonesia was the largest supplier of cars to the Vietnamese market with 7,088 units worth nearly US$100 million in the reviewed period.

Thailand ranked second in terms of the number of cars imported into the Vietnamese market with a total of 5,646 vehicles worth US$112 million.

Vietnam also recorded a total of 2,912 CBUs from China with a total turnover of more than US$81 million. In general, the number of CBUs imported into the country declined compared to the same period from last year.

The slowdown in car import activities duly reflects the gloomy situation of the Vietnamese car market, where car sales have dropped by approximately 50% compared to the December, 2023.
