At their meeting in Hanoi, Minh, who is Chairman of the National Committee on APEC 2017, spoke highly of efforts made by the ITUC-AP to back and assist labourers in the region.
He stressed that one of the four priorities of the APEC Year 2017 in Vietnam is the promotion of inclusive and sustainable growth.
Therefore, in the next several days, leaders of APEC economies will gather in Da Nang city to discuss measures to find a new driving force for growth and regional economic connectivity, he stated.
Human resources development is a priority of this year’s cooperation as it is essential to increase productivity and prepare workforce for the future in the context of rapid scientific-technological development, he added.
Yoshida said APEC economies will achieve inclusive growth if they reduce inequality and create more jobs.
He suggested APEC consider the establishment of an APEC labour forum, an independent consulting mechanism like the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC).-VNA
