Vietnam has climbed to 19th place on Taste Atlas’ list of the top 100 cuisines worldwide in 2024, making it the highest-ranked Southeast Asian country on the list.

A celebration of Vietnamese culinary excellence

With an average score of 4.34/5, Vietnam earned recognition for iconic dishes such as phở (Vietnamese noodle soup), bánh mì (Vietnamese sandwich), lẩu bò nhúng giấm (beef hotpot with vinegar), bún bò Nam Bộ (southern-style vermicelli with beef), and mì Quảng (Quang Nam-style noodles).

The country’s ranking reflects a three-spot rise from 2023, highlighting Vietnam's growing reputation as a culinary destination on the global stage.

Regional cuisines also recognized

Vietnam’s Central and Southern regions were also featured in Taste Atlas’ 2024 list of the 100 best culinary regions worldwide.

The Central region ranked 27th, celebrated for dishes like mì Quảng, bánh xèo (Vietnamese savory pancakes), and cao lầu (Hoi An-style noodles).

The Southern region placed 53rd, noted for its bánh tráng trộn (mixed rice paper salad), hủ tiếu (southern-style noodle soup), and lẩu mắm (fermented fish hotpot).

The Taste Atlas Awards are part of an annual ranking that evaluates and celebrates culinary excellence worldwide.

This year’s rankings were determined by over 400,000 votes and reviews from food critics, chefs, and diners around the globe.

Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Zagreb, Croatia, Taste Atlas is renowned as a global map of traditional cuisines, offering a curated guide to the world’s most iconic dishes.

Matija Babić, the founder of Taste Atlas, emphasized that the rankings are based on the expertise of culinary professionals and food critics to ensure the credibility of the awards.
