The Vietnam-Russia Inter-Governmental Committee on Military Technical Cooperation convened its 19th meeting in Hanoi on Thursday.

The event was co-chaired by Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Defence Be Xuan Truong and Nikolaevich Drozhzhov, Deputy Director of the Russian Federal Service for Military Technical Co-operation. 

The two sides discussed the outcome of cooperation under signed agreements and set forth cooperative orientations for the coming time.

They expressed their delight at positive development of the Viet Nam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership, which was reflected through visits of the two countries’ high-level leaders in 2017.

They appreciated the role of defence and military technical cooperation in the partnership, affirming to continue fostering the cooperation in the time ahead.

The two sides discussed and reached a consensus on a military technical cooperation plan for 2018, and exchanged views on contents of the 2016-2020 military technical cooperation plan.

Truong affirmed that the Vietnamese army and people always attach importance to the fine traditional friendship and cooperation with the Russian army and people.
