Minister of Justice Ha Hung Cuong held talks with his Russian counterpart A.V Konovalov in Hanoi on November 20, during which they agreed that the two ministries’ cooperation will contribute to consolidating the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership.

The ministers affirmed that the two countries’ relation in the law and judicial fields has experienced strong development.

They briefed each other on their respective countries’ legal and judicial reforms.

They also exchanged views on the building of several laws of Vietnam, including the revised Penal Code and the revised Criminal Procedure Code, as well as the training of Vietnamese judicial officers through organising courses biannually.

On the same day, the Russian minister was welcomed by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, during which Minister Konovalov pledged that his country’s judicial sector will actively contribute to developing the bilateral relations.

Minister Konovalov is on a working visit to Vietnam from November 19-21.

NA Vice Chairman welcomes Russian Justice Minister

National Assembly Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu suggested Vietnam and Russian continue experience sharing in law and justice and the training of judicial officers while receiving Russian Minister of Justice A.V. Konovalov in Hanoi on November 20.

Luu welcomed the outcomes of the working session between the minister and his Vietnamese counterpart, saying that he is delighted at the fine development of the two countries’ cooperation in this field.

He stressed that the Vietnamese Party, State, Government and people continually bear in mind the valuable support by the Soviet Union in the past and Russia at present for the country’s past struggle for national liberation and unification, and its current nation-building and development process.

Vietnam attaches special importance to development its comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia, he affirmed.

Konovalov, in turn, spoke highly of Vietnam’s achievements in judicial reform. He stated that his working visit aims to intensify bilateral cooperation in this field so as to further deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership.

Russia is willing to share its experience in the fields of law, justice and judicial reform with Vietnam, he added.
