In recent years, amid global geopolitical uncertainties, businesses are increasingly worried about how to survive and develop. Digital transformation and technology application are considered the most feasible solutions.

According to KPMG Vietnam, businesses say digital transformation brings great benefits in all aspects. For example, it helps increase workers’ satisfaction and clients’ experience.

That is why up to 57 percent of businesses said they have invested in technology related to AI (artificial intelligence), machine learning and generative AI, edge computing, robotics, automation and the metaverse.

Nguyen Thuong Tuong Minh, a digital transformation expert, said in an environment with so many challenges like now, in the last 2-3 years, many enterprises have to tighten their operation scale and seek new sources of revenue.

Many questions have been raised in the new era. What should be done to increase revenue when opportunities are becoming scarce? What should be done to practice thrift and avoid ‘resource bleeding’?

The answer is not just developing software, but rather a profound philosophy in the operation process to solve the problem to the root.

However, according to a Dell Technologies’ research work, during digital transformation, 60 percent of polled people in Vietnam said they are confused because technologies are too complex which bring inconsistent experiences. This is a big challenge that Vietnam’s enterprises have to face during transformation.

Systems with many separate software still need to be conducted manually, so there are risks during operations.

It also takes a lot of effort if businesses want to use a new software product and integrate it into an existing system. So, what many businesses want is integrating software, new and old, in a useful way. Businesses not only just need one software product, but they need a new software system that is highly interactive and easy to use.

“This optimizes businesses’ investment in information technology. The price is not for three software products, but three software products plus the value created by the interaction of the three software. The value is time, resources and money,” he said.

According to experts, modern software systems need to answer many questions, including automating communications between software used in the network, standardizing without errors and enriching information between software, and easily adding and removing software nodes when necessary.

According to the Ministry of Information and Communications, as of October 2024, the total number of businesses accessing the small and medium enterprise (SME) digital transformation support program (SMEdx) had reached 1.28 million.
