Finastra Financial Services State of the Nation Survey 2023 showed that Vietnam is leading in terms of interest in generative AI, with 91 percent of polled people showing interest in technology, the highest percentage among surveyed markets.

Statista Market Insights estimated that the Vietnamese generative AI market is valued at $100.2 million in 2023, and that banking, production, retail and agriculture get big benefits thanks to the performance boost by generative AI.

Pham Thi Thu Diep, CEO of IBM Vietnam, believes that AI, especially generative AI, will be the most interesting technology next year and the technology applications related to AI will prevail. Businesses are expected to shift from ‘adding AI’ to ‘AI on top priority’.

In 2024, generative AI will affect most positions. When generative AI develops rapidly, more and more positions for workers will bear a heavier impact.

In the next five years, most governments will make bigger investments in AI and automation rather than investments in human resources. The success of AI application will depend on the capability of adapting to new AI apps and tools. The workers who cannot cooperate with AI will be replaced by those who can work with AI.

Data will be not only the concern of the IT (information technology) division, but will also affect management of leaders. In 2024, the data storing tables powered by generative AI will become increasingly complex, helping leaders quickly grasp issues and intensify reaction capability.

The rapid development of generative AI is redefining jobs and tasks, from elementary to executive levels. The leaders who can take full advantage of the power of generative AI will reap the rewards of exponential impacts on business operations.

According to Nguyen Tuan Khang, Software Director of IBM Vietnam, AI will develop more rapidly in more competitive fields

“In Vietnam, AI is mostly applied for customer care services, particularly in the banking sector. It will also be utilized in the insurance sector, manufacturing and logistics as well,” Khang said.

IBM’s experts believe that generative AI will upgrade Vietnam’s digital economy to a new development level. However, humans’ awareness of AI will be the greatest challenge. 

A report found that 57 percent of businesses applying AI have worries about security problem, and 45 percent about the privacy of data. Before using generative AI, many businesses are interested in how to properly control data and strengthen security.
