By the 12th minute, the match heated up as Dionesa netted for the Philippines from an indirect free-kick, but the goal was disallowed. Vietnam quickly responded with a low shot from Phuong Anh, but again Samantha Jane was alert.
The two sides battled evenly through the remainder of the first half, which ended 0-0.
In the second half, Vietnam stepped up the pressure. Nguyet Vi and Thanh Ngan unleashed a series of fierce shots.
Finally, in the 25th minute, Nguyet Vi made the breakthrough. Receiving a sharp low cross from her teammate, she struck first-time, sending the ball looping over the Philippine goalkeeper and into the net.
Vietnam continued to push forward on the counterattack. Ngoc Han made a skillful run down the right flank, though her final shot lacked power.
As time ticked away, the Philippines switched tactics and began playing power play when in possession. Despite their efforts, their combinations lacked coherence, and they could not break through Vietnam’s defensive structure.
In the final moments, Lemorran attempted a tight-angle shot, but it grazed the side netting.
After 40 minutes of intense play, Vietnam emerged victorious with a 1-0 scoreline. Under head coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang, the team became the first to book a place in the final, where they will face either Thailand or Indonesia in the fight for the women’s futsal gold medal.
