The delegation comprises 1,165 members, including leaders, staff, coaches, athletes, doctors, and logistics personnel. In addition to Head of Delegation Nguyen Hong Minh, there are three deputy heads - Hoang Quoc Vinh, Le Thanh Ha, and Nguyen Ngoc Long - along with 21 delegation officials.
Approximately 200 Vietnamese delegation members are expected to participate in the opening ceremony, scheduled for December 9 in Bangkok. Two athletes - volleyball player Le Thanh Thuy and karate fighter Le Minh Thuan - have been selected to carry the national flag.
Both athletes are not only recognized for their sporting excellence but also praised for their exemplary conduct and professionalism on and off the field.
At present, Le Thanh Thuy and Le Minh Thuan are training intensively with the national teams, fully focused and determined to achieve top results at this year’s Games.
SEA Games 33 will take place from December 9 to 20, featuring 50 official sports and 574 competition events across 569 medal categories. The regional sporting event will also showcase three additional demonstration sports: disc throwing, tug of war, and aerial sports.
Vietnam will compete in 47 of these sports and has set a goal of winning between 90 and 110 gold medals.
The men's and women's national football teams have already arrived in Thailand. Vietnam’s U22 men’s football team will kick off the nation’s SEA Games campaign with their opening match against U22 Laos at 4:00 PM on December 3.
