On the occasion of the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birth (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2026), Vietnam’s current and former Party and State leaders visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum on Tuesday morning to pay tribute to the late leader.

A delegation representing the Party Central Committee, the State President, the National Assembly, the Government and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front laid wreaths and paid respects to President Ho Chi Minh at the mausoleum before offering incense in memory of fallen heroes at the Martyrs’ Memorial on Bac Son Street in Hanoi.

Attending the ceremony were General Secretary and State President To Lam, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, Permanent Secretariat member Tran Cam Tu, and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai.

The event was also attended by current and former leaders of the Party and State, along with representatives from central agencies, ministries, organizations and Hanoi authorities.

Before the spirit of President Ho Chi Minh, the delegation expressed profound gratitude and deep respect for his immense contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the Vietnamese nation. The wreath carried the inscription: “Forever grateful to the great President Ho Chi Minh.”

After paying tribute at the mausoleum, the delegation proceeded to the Martyrs’ Memorial on Bac Son Street to lay wreaths, offer incense and honor heroic martyrs.

In the solemn atmosphere, Party and State leaders paid tribute to the outstanding sons and daughters of the nation who sacrificed their blood and lives for national liberation, independence, freedom and the happiness of the people. The wreath bore the words: “Forever grateful to heroic martyrs.”

On the same morning, delegations from the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense, the Central Public Security Party Committee and Ministry of Public Security, and the Hanoi Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee also visited the mausoleum and commemorated fallen heroes.

Over recent days, Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi has welcomed people from across Vietnam coming to pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh. From early morning, large crowds gathered outside the mausoleum area, forming long but orderly queues while waiting patiently for their turn to enter.

In his article titled “The light of Ho Chi Minh illuminates our path,” General Secretary and State President To Lam affirmed that President Ho Chi Minh was not only the leader who found the path to national salvation and liberation, but also the person who laid the ideological foundation for Vietnam’s construction, protection and development in the modern era.

According to To Lam, President Ho Chi Minh linked national independence closely with the freedom and happiness of the people and with socialism.

He wrote that commemorating the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birth is not only an occasion to remember and honor his immense contributions, but also an opportunity for the entire Party, people and armed forces to reflect on themselves through his ideology, morality and lifestyle.

The article stressed the importance of strengthening confidence in the nation’s chosen path, enhancing responsibility toward the country and the people, and transforming  President Ho Chi Minh’s thought into concrete revolutionary actions in every agency, locality, cadre, Party member and citizen.

The General Secretary and State President emphasized that during major historical transitions, Vietnam must continue upholding President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology and return more deeply to the core values he left behind - independence, freedom, people-centered governance, solidarity, self-reliance, integrity, a clean Party, a State serving the people and development for human happiness.

Under the light of President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, with Vietnamese courage, intellect, determination and aspiration, the entire Party, people and armed forces will successfully implement the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress, achieve the nation’s two 100-year strategic goals and realize the aspiration of building a powerful and prosperous Vietnam standing alongside world powers, as President Ho Chi Minh had always wished.
