Politburo member Truong Thi Mai meets Russian Justice Minister Alexander Konovalov
Mai met with Chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF) Gennady Zyuganov and discussed measures to intensify traditional friendship and increase the efficiency of cooperation between the two Parties.
They agreed to regularly share information and coordinate at multi-lateral forums.
Vietnam appreciates the KPRF’s support for a policy of strengthening ties with Vietnam pursued by the Russian President and Government, Mai stated.
The Vietnamese official also met Sergei Zheleznyak, Deputy Secretary of the United Russia Party’s General Council and State Duma Deputy Speaker. They exchanged experience in building the ruling Party in each country to contribute to fostering the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership.
In her working session with Justice Minister Alexander Konovalov, the two sides discussed issues related to state management of people’s organisations as well as the situation of the Vietnamese community in Russia.
The Russian side spoke of Vietnamese people’s integration into the country, believing that the community will contribute more to the bilateral time-honoured friendship and all-round cooperation.
The Vietnamese official also participated in a gathering of the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association and the Russian Veterans’ Union.
During these meetings, Mai informed the hosts of Vietnam’s situation and its stance on several regional and international issues, including the East Sea issue.
Russian veterans and members of the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association showed their support for Vietnam’s stance of addressing the East Sea issue by peaceful means with respect to international law.
While in Russia, Mai also met the Vietnamese Embassy staff and representatives of the Vietnamese community in the country. She affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State always consider the overseas Vietnamese community an integral part and a driving force for the development of the nation.
