A delegation from the Overseas Party Organisation led by Nguyen Tuan Phong, deputy head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations, had a meeting with key leaders of the Communist Party (Marxist Leninist) of Canada, during which he expressed his hope for stronger ties between the two parties in the future.

Phong briefed the host on the result of the 12th Party Congress as well as achievements of Vietnam during the national renewal and development.

He said that the congress define the strengthening of relations with traditional friends as the Party’s core external relations tasks, while continuing to expand partnership with other countries in the world.

He lauded the operation of the Communist Party of Canada, especially in Party development and Party theory building.

On the occasion, Phong presented the Communist Party of Canada with a painting of Hanoi and Party documents, while inviting the host to visit Vietnam.

Meanwhile, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Canada Sandra Smith affirmed that her party always stands side by side Vietnam in the past and current period. She also gifted the Vietnamese delegation with newly-published documents on the principles and orientations of modern communism in the 21st century.

During their stay in Canada from December 9-11, the delegation had a meeting with the Canada-Vietnam Society and overseas Vietnamese in Montreal.-VNA
