Vietnam will also be led by a new head coach during the second leg.

Nguyen Ngoc Hoa has been appointed head coach by the Vietnam Volleyball Federation, replacing Nguyen Tuan Kiet for the tournament.

The squad has undergone several personnel changes.

Middle blockers Le Thuy Linh and Ly Thi Luyen replace Le Nhu Anh and Le Thanh Thuy, joining Tran Thi Bich Thuy and Luu Thi Hue to form a four-player middle blocking unit.

Elsewhere, Vi Quynh, Nguyen Uyen and Tra My have been rested, with Kim Thanh, Doan Xuan and Dinh Thuy called into the squad.

Setter Dinh Thi Van replaces Yen Nhi.

Rising star joins Thanh Thuy

The biggest addition comes at outside hitter, where Pham Quynh Huong has earned her first senior national team call-up alongside captain Tran Thi Thanh Thuy.

The young attacker, who plays for the Information Corps club, has impressed throughout Vietnam's youth ranks, representing the country at the U18, U21 and U23 levels.

Standing 1.87 meters tall, Quynh Huong joins 1.90-meter Thanh Thuy to give Vietnam what is believed to be the tallest outside hitter combination in Southeast Asia.

Tough challenge ahead

Vietnam enters the second leg seeking to bounce back after its disappointing straight-sets defeat to Thailand in front of home fans.

However, with a new coaching staff, several lineup changes and the challenge of playing away from home, overturning Thailand's regional dominance will be difficult.

Vietnam opens its campaign against Indonesia on August 7, faces the Philippines on August 8, and meets Thailand on August 9.
