Thai Son Nam District 8 of Vietnam beat the Indonesian Jaya Kencana Angels 3-1 in the first women’s match in the ongoing ASEAN Futsal Championship in Myanmar yesterday.

Thai Thi Thao scored for the Vietnamese side just three minutes into the match. A couple of minutes later it was 2-0 when Nguyen Thi Thanh netted from a straight shoot.

Thai Son Nam District 8 missed a lot of opportunities when their finishes were denied by both the bar and the poles.

The result was narrowed at the 17th mark, but Thao concluded her perfect day with the second goal in the second half, helping Vietnam winning 3-1.  Their next rival will be W FC of the hosts.

On the men’s side, Thai Son Nam was defeated 0-4 by Thaisport FC yesterday.

According to Tran Anh Tu, president of the club, Thai Son Nam needed to win the remaining two matches to enter the final match.

They will now play Black Steel of Indonesia, and then they will play MIC of Myanmar whom they will face on July 14.

On Sunday, Thai Son Nam defeated Lanexang United FC from Laos 14-4 at the Wunna Theikdi Sports Complex Indoor Stadium.

The Vietnamese club, powered by several national players, were full of firepower which they unleashed on their hapless opponents. They broke down the Lanexang defence in the very first minute through Nguyen Bao Quan.

Thai Son Nam continued to score and they were comfortably leading 8-3 by the break. By the end of the game, they walked away with a 14-4 win.

Others who scorerd included Ngo Ngoc Son with five goals, Nguyen Minh Tri with a hat trick, Tran Thai Huy and Olmo Campana Saul had a double each, while Yunusov Artur scored one.

Lanexang, who bravely battled their rivals to the end, did well to squeeze in goals by Nidnilanh Chanchaleune in the fourth and 26th minutes and by Chansamone Phommalivong in the 18th and 19th minutes.
