From the opening whistle, Vietnam imposed their rhythm and quickly made the breakthrough. In the fourth minute, Minh Quang finished clinically to open the scoring, before Thinh Phat doubled the lead just two minutes later with a decisive long-range strike. With the advantage in hand, the home side controlled possession and dictated the tempo.

In the 12th minute, Da Hai capitalized on a defensive error to make it 3-0. Just before halftime, Quang Nguyen added a fourth, giving Vietnam a comfortable cushion.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Vietnam maintaining dominance. Cong Vien and Cong Dai each found the net to extend the lead to 6-0. As Timor Leste pushed forward using a power-play approach, Thac Hieu scored Vietnam’s seventh goal before the opponents managed a late consolation.

The emphatic 7-1 win, combined with Thailand’s 2-0 victory over Myanmar, ensured Vietnam’s early progression to the semifinals. The upcoming match against hosts Thailand on April 8 will determine the top position in Group A.
