Vietnam’s women’s volleyball team powered through to the semifinals of SEA Games 33 after a straight-sets victory over Indonesia on December 12.
With this win, combined with the Philippines’ triumph over Singapore earlier the same day, the four semifinalists of the women’s volleyball tournament have officially been determined.
Vietnam finished the group stage at the top of Group B with three consecutive wins, having previously defeated Myanmar and Malaysia. The team capped off its dominant run by comfortably sweeping Indonesia.

Led by captain Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Vietnam displayed consistent form reminiscent of its strong performances in both legs of the SEA V.League earlier this year.
In the semifinals, Vietnam will face the Philippines - who secured the runner-up spot in Group A after rebounding from an earlier loss to Thailand. While Vietnam is the favorite, the Philippines still pose a threat with standout players like Jia De Guzman and Alyssa Solomon.
The other semifinal will feature Thailand versus Indonesia, with Indonesian star Megawati facing the daunting challenge of Thailand’s elite trio: Ajcharaporn, Chatchu-on, and Pimpichaya.
According to the official schedule, Vietnam will play the Philippines at 12:30 p.m. on December 14, followed by the Thailand–Indonesia match at 3:00 p.m.
