The Viet Nam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) has officially sold RON 95 which meets European emission level 3 and 4 standards, according to financial news website ndh.vn.

This is part of the plan to realise Decision No. 49/2011/QD-TTg, dated September 1, 2011, of the Prime Minister providing the roadmap for application of exhaust emission standards for newly manufactured, assembled and imported cars and motorbikes.

Comparing RON 95 fuel with European Emission Level 2 Standard (RON 95-II), which is widely and commonly used in the market, RON 95 with emission level 3 (RON 95-III) and RON 95 with emission level 4 (RON 95-IV) have a lower amount of lead, sulphur and benzene, reducing harmful emissions into the environment.

RON 95-III will be sold in the southern region while the latter will be sold in the northern region and HCM City. They will be sold at the initial prices of VND18,290 per litre and VND18,440 per litre, respectively.

Petrolimex is Viet Nam’s largest fuel wholesaler. Japanese shareholders have bought a larger stake in the company and reformed its operations. The firm is ranked third out of 10 Vietnamese firms named in Asia’s Top 1,000 Brands by Nielsen.
