According to the plan, 13 expressway projects under the North-South corridor built with state funds will collect tolls for a period of 7 years. These include the sections: Bai Vot - Ham Nghi, Ham Nghi - Vung Ang, Vung Ang - Bung, Bung - Van Ninh, Van Ninh - Cam Lo, Hoa Lien - Tuy Loan, Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon, Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon, Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh, Chi Thanh - Van Phong, Van Phong - Nha Trang, Can Tho - Hau Giang, and Hau Giang - Ca Mau.
Among these, only four sections - Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon, Chi Thanh - Van Phong, Can Tho - Hau Giang, and Hau Giang - Ca Mau - are still under construction and expected to be completed by the end of 2025. The rest are already operational.
Annual revenue from toll collection on the 13 expressways, after deducting operational costs, is projected to reach nearly 2.5 trillion VND (approximately 98 million USD).
Additionally, five other expressways from phase 1 of the North-South corridor funded by the state will also begin toll collection in January 2026. These are Mai Son - National Highway 45, National Highway 45 - Nghi Son, Nghi Son - Dien Chau, Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet, and Phan Thiet - Dau Giay.
Previously, the Vietnam Road Administration had proposed two toll levels in its infrastructure exploitation plan: 1,300 VND (about 0.05 USD) per kilometer for standard vehicles on expressways with continuous emergency lanes, and 900 VND (about 0.035 USD) per kilometer for roads with non-continuous emergency lanes.
The toll policy applies only to routes that meet the technical standards for toll collection, and authorities have emphasized that tolls are intended to fund maintenance and further development of national expressways - not for profit.
