Vietnam will send their best 34 athletes to compete in the Thailand Athletics Open 2017 which is scheduled for July 12-15.

The event will be a warm-up for Vietnamese players to prepare for the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Malaysia in August.

Veteran Nguyen Van Lai of the Military team also takes part in the four-day event. He is Viet Nam’s golden hope in the 5,000m and 10,000m categories.

In the Games two years ago, Lai won gold and broke the 22 year SEA Games record in the men’s 5,000m. 

The Thai tournament will see the participation of athletes from 11 nations in the SEA region.
